It may sound like I'm nitpicking but the problem with that model is that it forces you to focus on one unit at a time to take it out of the fight before switching to the next and despite showcasing more options and contrary to what most players may assume I don't think AoW3 does a better job on that front.HIgh Elves are strong archers, gaining a natural bonus to ranged strength. ![]() That alone is reason enough to see a limitation in such a game as we may see battles on the screen but in truth what we get is nothing but skirmishes. SK is a bit like that (although some units are shown as only one figure) but the more personal dimension really helps getting over that representaton (to me it feels a lot more like leading a warband or an adventuring party, not a whole army which is what AoW3 is pretending to be doing). They vanish as the unit gets hit because that's just a visual representation of a health bar (the fact that the unit never becomes any weaker despite being on death's doorstep is no less idiotic but that's how it works). In Heroes of Might and Magic (or King's Bounty) an entire stack is symbolized by one figure (which frankly has always been a bit idiotic) whereas in AoW3 you have an entire group standing for one unit and contrary to Heroes that unit doesn't become weaker after taking hits because it's supposed to be just one unit despite the fact the game is showing us several figures. ![]() They are different games but AoW3 is far from flawless IMHO. This game has more RPG elements than AoW3.
